Getting to Bendleby from Sydney

- LITHGOW
From Sydney, Head West and over the Blue Mountains. Make your first stop in Lithgow for a Coffee at one of the many Cafes to recharge and then continue North West.
Things to do in Lithgow
- Visit the Lithgow Small Arms Factory •
- Check out Hassan Walls Lookout
- Explore the Blast Furnace Park
- Mudgee
Your second stop will be in Mudgee, where you can check out a few of the local wineries for lunch and a tasting, or check out some of the local arts and crafts, and refuel if you need it.

- Visit Mudgee Museum
- Stop at a Winery for lunch and a tasting
- Visit the Mudgee Arts Precinct
- Dubbo
From here, you’ll make the final drive to Dubbo, where there are a range of accommodation options, and the Dubbo Zoo. If you want to take an extra day, stop and visit the zoo before you continue on your journey.

- Visit the Dubbo Zoo
- Visit the Old Dubbo Gaol
- Visit the Dubbo Botanical gardens
- Nyngan
From Dubbo, you continue West to your first stop at Nyngan. You can get a photo with the Big Bogan in the middle of town and grab a coffee or breakfast.

- Check out the Nyngan Museum
- Visit Mid-state Shearing Museum
- Take a walk by the River
- Grab breakfast at one of the local Cafes
- COBAR
From there, you continue West to Cobar where you can check out the lookout, grab a photo in front of the Cobar sign, and then get a bite to eat at one of the many Cafes (or the pub).

- Grab a picture at the Cobar sign
- Visit the Fort Bourke Lookout and Open Cut Mine site
- Visit the Sound Chapel (you’ll need to book and get the key from the Cobar Museum and leave a bond)
- Grab Lunch at the Pub or one of the many Cafes
- Willcannia
Your final destination for the day is Willcannia. From here, you can take a walk along the river, or make a trip North to the Opal mining town of White Cliffs, or take a slight detour to Menindee Lakes (a beautiful place to camp for the night).

- If you can make extra time, go checkout Menindee Lakes (great camping spot too)
- Take a walk along the river
- Head North to White Cliffs for a visit to Australia’s oldest commercial opal Fields. Check out the Underground Hotel too.
- Broken Hill
Get on the road early and head to Broken Hill for Breakfast. Head up to the Line of Lode Miners memorial for a stroll, before doing your last big grocery shop (Last Coles/Woolworths). Save your fruit/veggie and meat buy until after you are in SA (you can’t enter SA with any fresh fruit/vegetables).
- Yunta
From Broken Hill, continue West. Your next stop is Yunta, where you can stop at the pub for a refreshment and a yarn, before you continue onward.
- ORroroo
Just under 90 minutes later, you’ll hit Orroroo, the last town before Bendleby. Fill up with fuel, grab last minute groceries from the local IGA, and your meat fix from the local butcher before a nice 45 minute drive along the best dirt road in the country to hit Bendleby, where the real adventure begins!
