Our Landscape, our heritage & our responsibility

At Bendleby Ranges, we believe there is more to your visit than just the adventure. Our landscape has a rich history, unique natural environment and a working pastoral heritage that we are proud to share.

Whether you’re exploring the 4WD tracks, walking through the ranges or simply relaxing around the campfire, we encourage you to take the time to appreciate what makes this part of the Southern Flinders Ranges so special.

Our Landscape

The Southern Flinders Ranges is a landscape of rugged hills, winding creeks, native vegetation and spectacular views. Every season brings something different, from changing colours and wildflowers to the wildlife that calls this country home.

Take the time to explore, appreciate the landscape and leave it as you found it.

Protecting Our Natural Environment

Bendleby Ranges is home to a variety of native plants, birds and wildlife. Protecting their habitats is an important part of how we manage the property.
Through responsible land management, weed and feral animal control, and habitat protection, we work to maintain the natural environment for future generations.

Respect our wildlife, protect native vegetation and help us care for the environment.

Our Pastoral Heritage

Bendleby Ranges is more than a tourism destination. It’s also a working sheep station with a long pastoral history.
The historic buildings, tracks and infrastructure across the property are reminders of generations of pastoral activity and the important role agriculture has played in shaping the region.
Today, tourism and pastoral operations work alongside each other.

Appreciate the history, respect the working property and help preserve its heritage.

Respecting Cultural Heritage

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Bendleby Ranges operates, the Ngadjuri people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

We recognise the importance of Aboriginal cultural heritage and encourage visitors to learn more about the cultural history of the region.

Respect the cultural significance of the land and the generations who have cared for it.

Caring for Our Future

Living and working in a semi-arid environment means understanding the importance of water, responsible waste management and caring for the land.
At Bendleby Ranges, we aim to reduce our environmental impact through water conservation, recycling, waste reduction and sustainable land management.
We encourage our guests to do the same during their stay.

Use water wisely, minimise waste and help us protect the natural environment.

Explore Responsibly

One of the best things about Bendleby Ranges is the freedom to explore at your own pace.
Whether you’re four-wheel driving, bushwalking, mountain biking or camping, we ask everyone to follow a few simple principles:

Stay on designated tracks, walking trails and campsites.

Respect wildlife and native vegetation.

Take your rubbish with you or dispose of it responsibly.

Use designated firepits and follow fire restrictions.

Respect historic sites and pastoral operations.

Leave natural areas as you found them.

Enjoy the adventure, respect the land and leave it in good condition for those who follow.

Nature to Nurture

Our hope is that everyone who visits Bendleby Ranges leaves with more than just great memories — a greater appreciation of our landscape, its history, its wildlife and the importance of looking after it.

Small actions make a big difference, and together we can help protect this special part of the Southern Flinders Ranges for generations to come.
